Why LloydGrey? – Our difference

Adopting a holistic approach to branding unlocks a multitude of benefits for your business:

Deep brand expertise

With over 30 years of experience, we bring unparalleled knowledge and insights from working with hundreds of brands worldwide. Our expertise ensures smooth transformation and strategic implementation, no matter the scale or complexity.

Creative and strategic problem-solving

We combine creativity, design thinking and proven methodology to add genuine value to your business. Our solutions solve complex strategic challenges such as aligning your brand with your purpose, brand positioning, brand architecture, and long-term sustainable differentiation.

Longevity, value and return on investment

Your brand is a single point of truth—its a reflection of how you are perceived by the outside world. Caring for, and developing your brand is therefore not only a valuable investment in your business but creating financially measurable intellectual property. Our approach is all about doing it once and doing it right—saving you from revisiting your branding later on because it doesn't resonate anymore. We take a long-term approach which is why many of our clients still use branding we developed for them over two decades ago—proving its lasting impact and extraordinary return on investment.

Education and empowerment

We don’t just create brands—we equip you to own, live, and manage them long after our engagement. Our consultancy, training and mentoring approach provides ongoing strategic guidance to ensure your brand thrives.

Tailored and agile approach

No two brands are the same, so we offer a bespoke, flexible process that integrates with your requirements and internal team. Our lean, agile structure ensures responsiveness and efficiency without unnecessary bureaucracy, and we can draw on a team of experts when required.

Brand-first, business-driven

Brand is not just an add-on—it’s a core business asset that influences every aspect of your strategy, operations, marketing, and customer/stakeholder engagement. We understand this complex relationship and ensure your brand drives growth, differentiation, and long-term success.

Why not LloydGrey?

…we’re not for everyone!

If you’re looking for a quick brand tidy up, or pitch to get comparisons to help you choose a supplier, we won’t be able to help. We usually start with a face-to-face discussion with the decision-makers, because everything we do is grounded in relationships, understanding your specific needs, and what has led to this point. Once you meet us you’ll understand why—in fact, that’s the first question we’ll ask you—“why”?

Design and communication since 1985—our story

We couldn’t talk about storytelling without telling our story.

The LloydGrey journey began back in 1985. Nicki Lloyd and Tim Grey both graduated with BA Honors degrees in Visual Communications and Graphic Design at the same time, but on opposite sides of the globe.

Their paths first crossed in London in 1990. Nicki had just arrived from Australia after working for five years at Barrie Tucker Design in Adelaide and the Gold Coast. Tim was heading up a design team at Design House Consultants in Camden, North London. With a shared passion for design, they collaborated on freelance projects, and then worked together on big-brand projects at Tutssel St John Lambie-Nairn, clients included the BBC, TVI Switzerland, TSI Portugal, Carlton Television and Vickers Plc. (Inspired by their success), they moved to Brisbane in 1993 and founded Lloyd Grey Design.

The business quickly grew, securing branding and corporate communications projects for a diverse range of clients, including Turnbull Fox Phillips (Phillips Group), The Queensland Government, The Byrne Group, Brisbane Boys College, EDI, Queensland Nickel, and GWA International. By the early 2000s, Lloyd Grey Design had expanded to a team of fourteen and had established itself as the largest specialist branding agency in Queensland. The firm attracted both local and international clients, including BHP Billiton, Greyhound Australia, Suncorp Bank and Powerlink, and US based companies Duke Energy and Best Doctors.

As part of this accolade, she was appointed to the Queensland Design Council. Concurrently, Nicki participated in the Ulysses Program, an initiative by the Queensland Government’s Department of Employment, Economic Development, and Innovation, designed to help businesses harness the power of design-led practices. Adapting to changing technology and market dynamics, Lloyd Grey Design restructured its business model in 2013, streamlining to a core team of five and rebranding as LloydGrey. This agile and specialised team allowed the company to provide greater flexibility and a wider range of services, particularly as brands increasingly moved online and into social media. Today, LloydGrey leverages a network of experts in copywriting, web development, photography, video production, and other brand-related services to deliver bespoke solutions for clients.
